  • Nvidia 50 Series GPUs solution
  • Wide FOV lenses now in production
  • Pimax Play 1.38.01.01 out
  • Dream Air & Crystal Super update

Pimax Progress Updates is our bi-weekly column in which we share important bits for Pimax users. For questions or comments, reach out to a Pimax representative on Discord, or contact us via our support page.

Nvidia 50 Series GPUs solution

The Nvidia 50 Series is fantastic for high end PCVR (see benchmarks), but there are some teething problems still. We are aware that some users are still having some issues with their Nvidia RTX 50 Series GPU and using a Pimax headset. The issue occurs due to Pimax headsets running at very high resolutions and very high refresh rates.

We are working with the technical team from Nvidia reproducing this issue, which is being done successfully. Nvidia is now aware of this issue and soon rolling out a new GPU driver that should solve this. This new driver is estimated to come out within a few days.

See the Nvidia announcement:

We also have a temporary solution suggestion.

Open Pimax Play and in the Device tab, select "90 Hz Upscale (Lab)" mode. This will likely remove the bottleneck and solve the issue until Nvidia updates its drivers.

Wide FOV lenses

The wide FOV lenses for the original Crystal are now in production and we will soon contact a batch of users to pay the remaining amount if they wish to order these lenses. However, not only is the amount of wide FOV lenses produced limited, but also, we have seen that most user responses to the experience of the wide FOV lenses are very mixed at best. We are thus giving users the option to, instead of receiving the wide field of view lenses, the choice to receive a $50 discount coupon for a future Pimax purchase.

Pimax Play 1.38.01.01 out

This version is planned to be gradually pushed to all users in the next two weeks. You can download it here.

New features:

  1. To improve the experience for users without controllers (such as racing & flight simmers), so that you can open SteamVR and the Pimax shortcut menu without a controller.
  2. Optimize the Pimax Prime contract signing payment plan to support users to pay off in advance.

Bug fixes:

For Crystal Light:

  • Optimize the accuracy of the recenter function.
  • Improved the ability to remember the safety boundary after restarting or shutting down the headset.
  • Optimize the stability of the tracking while at rest, and reduce slight shaking caused by exceptional lighting conditions.
  • Optimized the aiming precision of the controller.
  • Optimize the cross-use scenarios of dual controllers to reduce occlusion loss.

Crystal Super update

We're working hard on the Crystal Super and Dream Air. In two videos on our YouTube channel, we take you through the progress and improvements we've made with a lot of in-depth info.
