Pimax Roadshow Recap: Salt Lake City Sees the Future of VR

On August 30th, the Pimax Roadshow arrived in Salt Lake City at the Sugar Space Arts Warehouse, bringing together both first-time VR users and long-time enthusiasts for an evening of hands-on exploration. Hosted by VR creator Cameron Butterfield (CButters Tech), the showcase featured the Pimax Crystal Light and the highly anticipated Crystal Super.

First-Time Users, First Impressions

For some attendees, this was their first time trying a Pimax headset. The feedback from newcomers was centered on the headset’s immersive qualities and user-friendliness. One user noted, “The experience was great, and there was no friction to getting set up with the headsets. We both loved the experience, and the Crystal Super was amazing.” This sense of seamless immersion was a common theme.

Several newcomers highlighted how surprisingly easy it was to get started, and how natural the transition felt once inside the headset. One attendee noted that the Pimax system itself was “fun and made everything feel smoother,” while others described the overall immersion as “far beyond what they expected from VR.”

Crystal Super in the Spotlight

The Crystal Super stood out as the star of the evening, especially in clarity and comfort. One attendee shared:

“The text clarity was, for lack of a more professional term, unreal. On my HP Reverb I can’t comfortably read text smaller than 20pt. On the Super, I could read down to size 8 font at arm’s length. The sweet spot, binocular overlap, and field of view made the experience incredibly immersive.”

Across the event, they also praised the large sweet spot, expansive field of view, and high binocular overlap, all of which contributed to an incredibly immersive experience.

A Look Toward the Future

The Salt Lake City roadshow was more than just a product demonstration; it was a conversation about the future of virtual reality. Seasoned VR users were eager to share their insights and hopes for what comes next. While the Crystal Super was praised as a generational leap in clarity, some attendees also offered constructive feedback, noting things they hope to see in future Pimax products.

One user pointed out some minor visual striping on bright backgrounds and expressed a desire for an even larger field of view and increased binocular overlap in the next-generation headsets. The conversation and feedback from the community at the roadshow are invaluable, and Pimax is committed to taking these insights into account as we continue to innovate.

We're grateful to everyone who came out to the Salt Lake City event and shared their passion for VR. The enthusiasm and honest feedback from the community are what drives us to push the boundaries of what’s possible.
