Will the Crystal Super be compatible with base stations?
Yes, but you will need to swap on the Lighthouse faceplate. We think for most users, the default inside-out tracking is good enough, that's why it's standard. We also feel the industry is moving towards inside-out tracking because this is what users more and more prefer. But if you want to use base stations, we offer that flexibility.
If the housing is 30% smaller does that mean the Lighthouse faceplate for the OG Crystal won’t fit?
Because the Crystal Super has been drastically resized, you will have to use a Crystal Super-specific Lighthouse faceplate. We will try our best to keep future headsets at the exact size of the Crystal Super, so that we minimize the amount of Lighthouse faceplate versions required.
Will the Lighthouse faceplate cover for the Crystal Super be available upon launch?
At this moment in time, we cannot confirm this.
When is the expected shipping time? Is the Super still on track for a 2024 release
We're very much on schedule to start shipping within 2024, at least with the QLED version.
If you buy the bundle (QLED and micro-OLED), do they ship at the same time or do you ship the version that is ready first, first?
The headset shell + QLED optical engine will ship first, the micro-OLED optical engine when it's ready.
Are you considering a trade-in/credit for Crystal Light owners? I love my Crystal Light and would love some type of upgrade path to the Super.
Right now there is no such plan. The Crystal Light is already very competitively priced. The Crystal is part of the 12K Trade-in program, and Crystal owners also get $400 discount when purchasing the Crystal Super.
Will either the OLED or QLED panels support HDR? This is the missing piece to bring these headsets forward in terms of realistic lighting (in particular for Flight Simulation)
The Crystal Super, like the Crystal Light and Crystal, will support 8 Bit color.
What will the stereo overlap be of the Crystal Super?
We will confirm this number later.
How many nits will the QLED panel be?
200 nits.
Why do you have an interchangeable optical engine?
There are several reasons for this approach:
- This approach saves you money because you don't need to buy two separate headsets.
- VR enthusiasts do have a hard time choosing. In fact, from our customer research, we know that many of you own more than 10 VR headsets.
- It gives a longer lifecycle for product owners.
- And it's better for the environment.
- It comes at virtually no extra costs or any downsides. The amount of additional parts or weight is negligible.
- Also, we already know users love to mod their headsets.
- And this allows for additional future addons and optional modules.
- Additionally, this ensures cheaper and easier repairs and replacements of parts.
Will Super get DMAS earphones and will they be black?
The Super will have default earphones that will be black. As with the audio on the Crystal Light, the performance has been greatly improved, and we feel it's similar to the audio quality of the Quest 3 and Varjo XR4. Will the DMAS speakers be compatible with the Crystal Super?
Yes, they will be compatible.
What is the FOV of the Crystal Super?
As mentioned in Frontier, the 50 PPD lenses in the QLED module will have 150° diagonal FOV, 130° horizontal, 110° vertical FOV.
Are there any plans for a wide FOV lens for the Crystal Super?
Right now we plan a default lens with 50 PPD, and one with 57 PPD. The default lens, as mentioned above, already has an incredibly large FOV.
Are we still going to get the $400 discount for people who already own the Crystal . Because I pre-ordered the super based on that discount.
Yes. This was mentioned in Frontier and has not changed.
When is it coming out, what is a reasonable date? What is the weight? For those that have lighthouses, can you reduce the price by not including the controllers? Can it be an option?
Great questions, but the exact dates, weight, and purchase options we have yet to confirm.
Pass-through? Handtracking?
The Crystal Super will support pass-throughs like the Crystal and Crystal Light. With the Ultraleap handtracking module, you can use the bottom USB-C plug to install it and enable handtracking.
It will be possible to use my expensive sound card and pre-amp via jack 3.5 mm instead using the integrated sound board of the HMD? I mean, I have already do connect a 5 meter DP cable, why don't use a audio connector, maybe an 5 meter jack 3.5 mm AUX? Thank you for any response
Not sure if we understood the question well. The Crystal Super has a 3.5 mm audio jack, so you could use the audio output for headphones.
Will the focal distance be the same as the Crystal on all variants?
The Crystal Light and Crystal are set at one meter. The Crystal Super will be the same.
Any chance you can make a bigscreen beyond formfactor for just watching movies etc
The Bigscreen Beyond is a great little headset, but we want to focus on providing the highest clarity for PCVR.
Pimax, have you thought about adding additional weight to the rear strap for 50/50 weight distribution. It makes such an improvement to comfort! Thanks.
We have no plans for this now, but we firmly support our users to mod their headset.
Maybe need 2 more cameras on the side in order to track the controllers on the side or bottom?
The current layout with four cameras can track the controllers fine, and we think the controller tracking is on the same level as the Quest 2 and Quest 3.
Why does the Crystal Light not have the 30% volume reduction?
In technology, products always get faster, stronger, lighter. This is how we progress. At the launch of the Pimax Crystal Light, we had not finished this part of the R&D. The Crystal Super builts on the foundation of the Crystal and Crystal Light, and therefor is improved in numerous areas.

What's the micro-OLED resolution?
Please hang on before we confirm and publish the final micro-OLED specs. But for sure, the resolution will be higher than the Apple Vision Pro, as mentioned in Frontier.
Why Crystal is still using OpenXR when it's not supported anymore?
OpenXR is supported and a very popular runtime for VR applications.

Great work, well done. Crystal owner... where are my wide FOV lenses?
We fully understand the frustration, but the wide FOV lenses are under production, but we are still waiting for a supplier to speed up the production. The lenses are made in the same factory that also makes glass lenses for photography brands such as Leica, Sony, Olympus, and Nikon.
Ordered the Light with Dimming in mid-April and still nothing. No indications of any shipping times either. How’s that 12K doing?

Where is 12k?
We know we mentioned this several times! But we are coming with an update soon. These updates take time as we need to consolidate information, make sure we don't under or overpromise, and find a way to explain our technical challenges and progress, without releasing confidential information that could benefit our competitors. The 12K update is on our to-do list.
What is the status of the MR cover?
We have done our first test in the office with the MR cover, but we do not have an exact release date yet.
