Crystal Super - The world's first retina-level VR headset
Pimax’s new flagship VR Headset, the Crystal Super, sets a new benchmark with its retina-level resolution of 57 PPD, delivering unmatched clarity and immersive experiences. In short:
- QLED panels with 3840 x 3840 pixels per eye
- 120° horizontal field of view
- Glass Aspheric Lenses with 99% Light Transmission and a brightness of 280 Nits
- Local Dimming 2.0 with 1000 local dimming zones per eye that bring the contrasts & blacks close to micro-OLED levels
- Eye-tracking and inside-out tracking (but base stations will be optional)
- Controllers are included
- Pimax Play comes with lots of additional features such as Dynamic Foveated Rendering and Upscaling
- Swappable Optical Engines, including Micro-OLED and 50 PPD QLED option.
Beyond its visual clarity, the Crystal Super is an improvement over the Crystal and Crystal Light in nearly all areas. The exterior has been reduced nearly 30% in size and comes with improved ergonomics, ensuring comfort for long sessions. Its compatibility with Dynamic Foveated Rendering and Upscaling allows for smooth and seamless gameplay, even on mid-range systems. Users can disable or reduce anti-aliasing, thanks to the Super’s sheer pixel density, freeing up valuable system resources while maintaining image quality.
The Crystal Super brings professional-grade PCVR, offering a brighter display, great field of view, and ergonomic improvements for long-term comfort.

60G Airlink - Wireless freedom
The 60G Airlink is one of Pimax's key technologies going into the future, aimed at making PCVR not just wireless, but also maintaining the high clarity.
When using standard wifi protocols, you lose a lot of what makes PCVR great in the first place: fantastic visuals. The 60G Airlink module for the Crystal enables visually compressionless data transfer, meaning no visual artifacts, no color banding, and no perceivable lag. Pimax has replaced one key chip inside the combined transmitter and receiver, for more performance. It's not just an ultra-high bandwidth, but also a stable connection across 5 by 5 meter from your PC.
So this is where 60G technology comes in. Pimax isn't the first to use this technology. The TP Cast for the Oculus achieved this, but at a resolution of 1080x1200 per eye, at 90 Hz. HTC's wireless solution works at 1632 x 1632 and again, 90 Hz. With the Crystal, Pimax has already achieved 90 Hz, and now are pushing for 120 Hz, which will help for fast motion games.
All of this is at 2880 x 2880 per eye, which is much higher than anything before.
Not just that, it's a light and integrated solution into the headset. No loose wires or difficult setup. It has also been integrated into Pimax Play, and it works smoothly. Pimax is still working on making the most use of eye-tracking, including Dynamic Foveated Transport, Dynamic Foveated Rendering, as well as the upcoming Upscaling Mode for the Pimax Crystal. So it's not just the highest clarity, but also the most advanced wireless solution.
At Pimax's office, they're now inviting users to try it out, and will soon start the beta test. They're ready for mass production, and the 60G Airlink will also be available for a public demo at CES soon.
