As announced earlier, Pimax is developing an integrated OpenXR runtime for Pimax Play. This absolves the need to install additional software, such as PimaxXR and OpenXR Toolkit, bringing more convenience to the users.
How to install the new OpenXR runtime
1: Download and install Pimax Play 1.32
Download the new Pimax Play 1.32 that includes the OpenXR beta function, by clicking here:

2: Switch runtime to Pimax OpenXR
First, open Pimax Play and click the [Switch to Pimax OpenXR] button to change to the Pimax OpenXR runtime.
You’ll now see the [OpenXR Quad Views] option available under the Games tab. This option is only selectable when the runtime is set to Pimax Play. It will be grayed out when other runtimes are in use.
Please make sure you turn off PimaxXR and OpenXR Toolkit!
Steam will also automatically display Pimax OpenXR as the active runtime.
When Pimax has been previously turned off, the default setting for [OpenXR QuadViews] will automatically be set to [Balanced] when running Pimax Play.
3. If you want to switch back to SteamVR runtime
- Open SteamVR and click [Set SteamVR as OpenXR Runtime] to revert back to the Steam runtime.
- Pimax OpenXR will automatically stop, and the [Switch to Pimax OpenXR...] button will reappear in Pimax Play for easy access.
