CES 2025 recap

Hundreds of people from around the world tried the Crystal Pro Super at CES 2025. See some reactions here:

Crystal Super beta & shipping time

We're back from CES where hundreds of people have tried the Crystal Super (57 PPD QLED) and we've learned a lot of things. Nearly everyone said that the Super is the sharpest and brightest VR headset they've ever tried. But we've also acquired valuable feedback from users and content creators, on top of the work we already knew we still had to complete. This includes:

  • The turning knob on the top-strap easily comes off, and this part has already been altered for future units.
  • Strict panel selection for the production model and calibration to reduce if not eliminate the effect of mura.
  • We have several distortion profiles with slightly different stereo overlap numbers, and need to pick the one with the best visual performance, and subsequently fine-tune to remove the distortions.

We will start a external beta test with a small batch of the PVT (production viable test) model in January, and this will help us dial in these fine tunings, before starting mass production and shipping to customers — based when customers have put their (pre)orders in. We expect to finalize these steps within Q1 2025.
