Pimax to Debut Dream Air SE at SimRacing Expo Charlotte

The SimRacing Expo is coming to the United States for the first time, and we're bringing something new with us.

As shown at the recent Launch Event, the Dream Air SE is now shipping to customers. For those who want to experience the headset first-hand, the SimRacing Expo in Charlotte, North Carolina is your chance. From May 22 to 24, 2026, the first-ever SimRacing Expo USA takes place at the Charlotte Convention Center — Memorial Day Weekend, with the Coca-Cola 600 running at Charlotte Motor Speedway that same weekend.

The Dream Air SE makes its public debut at the show. If you've been following its development, this is your first chance to try it on a proper sim racing rig.

What is the Dream Air SE?

It's the smallest Pimax headset ever made, and the most accessible high-end PCVR headset on the market at $899 — including professional-grade eye tracking and integrated audio out of the box.

  • The headset runs micro-OLED panels at 2.5K per eye — 5120 x 2560 total — with true blacks, since individual pixels can be turned off entirely. For simracing, that matters: night races, cockpit shadows, and dark environments look the way they should. The pancake lenses have been iterated and refined specifically for this panel, prioritizing edge-to-edge clarity and a wide sweetspot.

  • It has Tobii eye tracking built in — ten infrared lights per eye — which unlocks dynamic foveated rendering. In simulation titles like DCS, that can double your performance. For those already running a Lighthouse base station setup, the Dream Air SE slots straight in. There's also a SLAM version with inside-out tracking for those who don't.

  • Comfort is a priority. The headset is light, the new facemask covers more of the forehead, and dual-fan cooling — one fan per panel — means you can run it at full brightness without the headset or your face overheating during a long race session.

Where to Try It

You'll find Pimax headsets and Pimax staff at a booth of any of our four hardware partners:

  • Podium1

  • TrakRacer

  • DOF Reality

  • Fanatec

Each partner runs a different rig configuration, so you'll experience the headset across varied setups — different frames, different motion platforms, different seat positions.

That's a more honest test than any single demo station.

Talk to Us

Our staff will be at all three booths throughout the weekend. Whether this is your first time in a VR headset on a sim rig or you've been doing it for years, we're interested in what you think — of the Dream Air SE specifically and of VR simracing in general. We're there to answer questions, not just hand out headsets.
