All data here is community-driven and reflects actual in-game performance, not lab tests. GPU & CPU Overview

Compared with Crystal Light, Crystal Super places significantly higher demands on PC hardware. In our dataset, around 80% of Crystal Super users are running an RTX 5090 or 4090, whereas for Crystal Light, the proportion of users with these top-tier GPUs is below 40%.

That said, this does not mean that Crystal Super is unplayable on mid-range systems. Our data includes three users running DCS on an RTX 3090, all of whom were able to achieve over 40 FPS at roughly a 75% resolution scale on average. While this setup does not fully unlock the maximum potential of Crystal Super, it demonstrates that the headset remains perfectly usable and enjoyable on capable, but not top-end, hardware.

Optical Engines Selection Based on Your Set up

Among the three optical engines currently shipping with Crystal Super, the 57PPD version has comparatively lower hardware requirements than the other two. Looking specifically at users with an RTX 4090, the 57PPD configuration achieves a 1.21% higher resolution scale and delivers 3.24% higher FPS than the 50PPD configuration in real gameplay scenarios.

Users of the Ultrawide optical engine tend to configure higher FPS with a lower resolution scale, likely reflecting the needs of fast-paced titles where a wider field of view is prioritized. Therefore, if you do not plan to upgrade to a top-tier PC in the near term, choosing 57PPD can be a sensible option, offering a strong balance of clarity and performance.

 

Gaming Performance Unveiled

It is also important to note that hardware requirements vary significantly between games. For example, 57% of DCS players in our dataset are using an RTX 5090, while among Half-Life: Alyx players, the proportion is around 50%, indicating that FPS titles are generally less demanding than flight simulations.
