Why Crystal Light is the PCVR You Should Get in 2024
Unparalleled Visual Quality
Crystal Light offers a superior visual experience. While the Reverb G2 boasts excellent visuals and the Quest 3 offers edge-to-edge clarity, Crystal Light combines the best of both worlds. Its sweet spot is larger than that of the G2, and its overall clarity surpasses that of the Quest 3, providing an unmatched visual experience.
Affordable Excellence
While there are many impressive headsets on the market, Crystal Light shines in its price range. It delivers exceptional value, making it a standout option for those seeking high-quality VR without breaking the bank.
Wide Game Compatibility
Crystal Light supports a vast library of PCVR games, allowing you to play all Steam VR titles and enjoy popular games like Microsoft Flight Simulator. Its broad compatibility ensures access to the latest and most exciting VR experiences.

Awesome upgrade from the G2
I upgraded to the Crystal Light from the Reverb G2. I love the clarity of this headset, especially once you dialed in the settings. Cockpit instruments are sharp. Visuals are awesome. I mostly fly helicopters low level in DCS & MSFS so the added image detail both inside and outside the cockpit adds to the level of immersion. The DMAS sound quality is on par with the ones from the G2 which are great. I just wish Pimax made this standard on their headsets. I added a topstrap and new cushions and spacers from StudioForm Creative to customize it to my face shape. Now it fits perfectly and is even more comfortable.

Blows my old Q2 and G2 out the water.
I started my journey with VR a few years back with the Quest 2, Oculus 2 at the time. Stand alone without a computer, I still believe the Quest 2 and 3 are the best option. But I fell in love with sim racing which required a PC. Using the Quest link cable became a real problem. It was overpriced and the third party cables some worked, some were junk none of which lasted long. So, I got the HP Reverb G2, which blowed me away. Using a display cable instead of the single USB cable made a giant difference in clarity and performance and I would probably would have been happy with the G2 from then on. But then I found out that HP was a trash company. The G2 started blacking out from overheating and when I researched the problem, that is when I found out that Windows was planning on pulling the rug from under lazy companies that never bothered to create their own software, instead relying on Windows Mixed Reality. Sure, I was mad angry with Microsoft, but I place the bulk of blame on lazy companies like HP that should have been working on a solution.
At any rate, this is the reason why I purchased the Crystal Light. I must be honest, I didn't really like the price. And I also believe there was a little switch and baiting going on with the initial purchase. The Crystal Light without local dimming was the cheaper version was listed as unavailable (out of stock), while the Crystal Light with local dimming was available for purchase. Yet, after I purchased my head set on Oct 15 and didn't receive it until Dec 1, I'm wondering was it really available for purchase? Ok, that's all the negative I've experienced from the Pimax experience, now for the good stuff.
This headset is unbelievable, comparing this headset with the Q2 and G2 is like comparing and old analog tv to the new 4k versions, it is really that drastic. All this and I'm not even close to getting all I can out of this headset. I currently have a RTX 4070 which bottlenecks the headset a bit, but it still looks and performs fantastic. Assetto Corsa, my main racing simulator looks flawless, but Assetto Corsa Competizione is very demanding so I have to dial back the quality a bit for it to perform, that said I'm still very happy how it looks. With Assetto Corsa EVO releasing soon, the upgrade to Assetto Corsa, I have no idea how demanding it will be on my system, I'm upgrading to the RTX 4080 Super to ensure I can even more performance from the headset.
In closing, this headset is absolutely the best I've ever used and it ain't even close. But you do have a system that can get that doesn't bottleneck it. For reference my system is (Intel I9 12th Generation 32Ram with a RTX 4070). The bottleneck being the GPU.

Performs as Reviewed for MSFS
Crystal Light received and installed (around two weeks from order date) with few issues to replace Reverb G2 on my older system (I7-10700K + RTX 3080). Improvements in contrast, color saturation, resolution are as expected from published reviews. While less comfortable out of the box than the G2, headset comfort issues seem overstated for my application and I find it fully usable as is. Performance using MSFS 2020 is on par with the G2 with negligible impact on frame rates and no new visual artifacts. I'm happy with the purchase, while recognizing that I may want to upgrade hardware in the midterm to better realize the full potential of the headset and accommodate future demands of MSFS 2024 when I start using it. Crystal Light looks like a keeper.

Pimax Crystal Light should be winner of best VR headset of 2024. 🏆
And no.. Pimax didn't pay me to write this.. I actually paid full price for the headset and could not be happier with it.
I upgraded from HTC Vive Pro 2. Mainly because I wanted clarity which no other company can provide currently with superior resolution.
It's soo good.. I feel so much more immersed now in my games thanks to the FOV, hight refresh rate and visual clarity.
Only slight issue, as nothing is perfect, I had to buy the comfort top strap and also invest in some comfort mods from a company based in NZ as my forehead begins to hurt as the headset is a bit front heavy I have to tighten it up a lot in order for the headset not to droop. So if you have the same issue look up Studioform and hopefully th counterweights should sort it.
Software Installation is a breeze, worked 1st time unlike the Vive software which ive always had issues with.
Shipping times can vary so don't have high expectations and think you will get this next day. But they do state that on the website.
One other thing is that customer service is top notch. I always got answers within 24hrs when I was researching and enquiring about shipment updates.
I read a lot of negative stuff on Reddit whilst doing my research before making my purchase. Reddit seems like a negative place where people like to vent in r/pimax which is unfortunate especially if you are looking to get some good feedback about the PCL.
Since I have had this headset, apart from the comfort issue I cannot fault it.
Lastly, if you are thinking about buying this headset just do it. MSFS2024 looks amazing and it's elevated my VR expereince to the next level.
Hope this helps. 👍

Made a slight modification, much more comfortable!
Upgraded from a G2, as expected the performance of the Crystal Light is awesome…5 stars, few bugs in the software exist, but with help from the tech support staff, my issues were solved within just a few hours. Comfort of the Crystal Light could be better, when I ordered the headset, the DMAS earphone upgrade was temporarily out of stock, so I mounted my Megladon Headphones, they fit perfect to the existing earphone attachment point. To my surprise the side to side headstrap of my Megladon headphones supported the Crystal better and was much more comfortable than the front to back strap. For me, it seems to support the weight better, definitely more enjoyable on those long flights.

Love my Crystal Light!
My Crystal Light arrived two days ago and I have to say, the image quality is truly amazing! It does require a bit of setup, but the guys and girls at Pimax guide you to every step of the way, what an upgrade, coming from my Reverb G2, very happy! Can't wait to try the new OpenXR features in Pimax Play, keep up the good work!

Beyond and better
I had the Reverb G2 before and already ordered and tested the Bigscreen Beyond. However, the glare and the FOV was just too much, respectively, too small for me... especially the glare.
Now, the Crystal Light exceeded my expecations... you need to tweek some settings here and there (enought youtube videos available for each game), but then, the performance is just incredible.... the visuals photorealistic....
overall, just an awesome headset and no regrets at all to have chosen this one.
TOP!!!

Excellent upgrade over Meta Quest 2
I had been using the Meta Quest 2 but I jumped on this based on multiple reviews from Youtube, especially from VR Flight Sim Guy (thank you sir).
It was the most logical upgrade for Flight simming and Sim racing, that I mostly do. Having a pretty beefy rig that includes an RTX 4090 this headset is a no brainer if you are not fancy of Mixed Reality stuff.
Having the video signal in its purest form (no compression) passing to your eyes via this headset's amazing optics and panel with local dimming will make your brain bath in joy and awe.
I pre ordered my headset in the middle of July 2024 and got it in second week of September.
Already looking to make the DMAS speaker upgrade once they'll be available. Cheers!

Great upgrade on the G-2
Using heavily for a month now, pretty much been bullet proof. Visuals are a solid upgrade over the G-2 and it's really upped my game in my favorite flight sims. The features for adjustments and tinkering for image are vast and highly customizable to find that perfect performance vs visuals balance. Far more adjustments than any WMR set with lots of room for future expansion as hardware evolves.
I like it, it's my new ride. Comfort kit and pimax top strap makes it a better wear than the old G-2, very stable and sits where I need it in air combat with lots of head movement. Going to put a whole bunch more sim time in this winter, it's an assume combo for fun and entertainment.
Can't think of anything negative that can't be fixed first hour right out of the package. Best VR experience to date. I only do air combat and flight simulation, this is the right set for me.

Nice step forward from Reverb G2 in sim racing
I moved from the HP Reverb G2 to the Pimax Crystal Light and my primary use case is for sim racing. In my experience, any wearable tech to include VR headsets take a week or two to get used to, and the Crystal Light was no different in that regard. With that said, after a couple of weeks of getting used to wearing the headset correctly, I've found it to be quite comfortable for longer VR sessions and the visual detail is outstanding.
Comparing to the G2, my experience is the clarity in fine details are where the Crystal Light shines to me. In the racing sims, I utilize the in-car instrumentation for things like lap time, remaining fuel, tire pressures, etc. In a current day GT3 car, those weren't too hard to see with my G2 as they were all usually on a dash display and larger. In a prototype where all that info is on a smaller wheel display though, I couldn't read the titles at all - I'd just have to look at the numbers displayed and figure out what it was. With the Crystal Light, I can now read all the fine print titles on those in-game wheels in the car. Also being able to see a long straight away simply disappear into the far distance with such clarity is truly stunning. Even in the rearview mirror, the track behind me now seems to go forever back with clarity.
The only real weak spot I had noticed with the headset was the included audio solution, as while the sound quality seemed good (bearing in mind I'm only hearing things like the engines, tire noise, etc.) they were just very quite even at full blast. However with a recent update to the audio drivers from Pimax, the audio volume is much improved to the point I don't feel I need to buy the upgrade audio solution anymore, unless I wish to (before the update, it seemed I would need to).
To me ...
...the pros are: visual quality, overall comfort, ease of use, standard audio seems good at least for sims now
...the cons are: stock face gasket is pretty wide with a gentle curvature and depending on face shape, may let some light in around the back side areas, build quality of the headset could be a bit better (to be clear, I don't feel it's poorly built, just that the Reverb G2 feels a bit more solid when doing things like removing the plastic lens surround/face gasket to clean the lenses, or picking the headset up by the front sometimes will yield a very plasticky crack/squeak and things like that).
The cons of the unit are far outweighed by the pros in my opinion, and right now I think it is difficult to find a better PCVR headset with DisplayPort connection considering the price point.

Really impressed with the headset. I previously used the HP G2 v2, which failed after 1.5 years—frustrating, especially considering the cost. I've recommended the Crystal Light to others because it offers the best value for the money. Thank you Pimax!

Huge upgrade from G2
Transitioning to the Pimax Crystal Light from my 2-year old G2 has been a game-changer. The picture quality is WOW, and the overall performance is fantastic. Although I experienced some initial sound problems, a recent update took care of that, making the experience even better.

“It's a very solid headset for sim games. The picture clarity is pretty good and the local dimming helps with the blacks in some games. If you love VR sim games, this is a great purchase and a great replacement for the HP Reverb G2.”
