Crystal Light Optimization Guide for DCS based on the GPU that you have [RTX 3060 TI, RTX 3080, RTX 4060 TI, and RTX 4090]

Here is a simple way for you to optimize your system for DCS based on the GPU you have. We will go through the settings for RTX 3060 TI, RTX 3080, RTX 4060 TI, and RTX 4090. In cases you have a different GPU you can probably interpolate between two of these settings to get your base optimized setting from where you can further tweak.

A great VR experience has always been subjective, however, most people find that for DCS 60 to 90 frames per second works well. This setting guide aims to keep the frame rate within these ranges while not reducing the overall resolution of your Crystal Light.

Note: We assume that your CPU and RAM are roughly in league with your GPU and that you're not running a fifth-generation i3 along with a 4090 GPU and 8 GB of RAM for example

Step 1.

Go into the Nvidia control panel, and under 3D settings ensure that Image Sharpening (if you have it) is set to 0.25. You will find that this setting improves the clarity of very distant objects dramatically.

Next, scroll down and ensure that Power management mode is set to Prefer maximum performance
Remember to click Apply afterward.

Step 2.

Go to Pimax Play and set Refresh Rate to 72 Hertz.

Leave render resolution, etc. on maximum.

Step 3.

In PimaxXR ensure that eye-tracking and quad views rendering are turned on.

Step 4.

4090 GPU

If you have DCS 4090, set QUADVIEWS companion as shown in the picture.
  • Foveated resolution to 150%
  • Peripheral resolution to 5%
  • Foveated Sharpness to 80%
  • Transition Thickness to 20%

4060Ti and 3080 GPUs

For 4060Ti and 3080 GPUs set QUADVIEWS companion as shown in the picture.
  • Foveated resolution to 100%
  • Peripheral resolution to 5%
  • Foveated Sharpness to 80%
  • Transition Thickness to 20%

3060Ti GPU

For 3060Ti GPU, set QUADVIEWS companion as shown in the picture.
  • Foveated resolution to 75%
  • Peripheral resolution to 5%
  • Foveated Sharpness to 80%
  • Transition Thickness to 20%
