Since 2015
Almost a decade ago, Pimax launched the first commercially available headset with a resolution of 4K pixels.
After that we were the first to put 5K, 8K and soon 12K in a VR headset, as well as glass aspheric lenses and numerous other innovations.
VR: obsession first, business second
We know what VR gamers want, because we are VR gamers ourselves. We don’t own a huge social media platform to monetize the metaverse; we create new VR technology because we want to see for ourselves where it can take us.
Pimax was founded by Robin Weng:
“Deep in my heart, I’m a gamer. I’m the first one in my block to get a Gameboy. In the late 90s, I started hanging out in online communities, trying to get the most out of video games. I felt like there was a virtual world and I was a part of it. I felt a sense of belonging. I felt like anything was possible. Today, all that excitement and all of those possibilities surrounding VR bring back those same feelings.

Pimax 8K brought immersive experience to users with Leap Motion hand tracking and 7Invensun eye tracking at CES.
2018
Under the leadership of China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, Pimax jointly established the "Ultra HD Video Industry Development Alliance" with Tencent, Huawei, and China's three major telecommunication companies, becoming the vice chairman to contribute to high-definition VR hardware research and development.
2017
Oct
The Pimax 8K crowdfunding campaign started on Kickstarter. The initial goal was reached within an hour. Within 5 days, the total funding went over 1 million dollars, surpassing Asia’s VR crowdfunding record. The funding surpassed 2.43 million dollars on 10/27, breaking Oculus’s record. In 45 days, Pimax 8K raised 4.23 million dollars in total, setting the Guinness World Record for “Most Crowdfunded Virtual Reality (VR) Project”.

Pimax founder Robin brought the 2nd generation product – Pimax 8K to CES.
2016
Pimax gained 7.7% market share in the Chinese VR headset market with the Pimax 4K coming in just after Sony’s PS VR.
Apr
Released the world's first 4K VR headset – the Pimax 4K, shipped worldwide in June. The Pimax 4K was recognized as the best VR product at CES Asia 2016.

Pimax Technology (Shanghai) Co., Ltd was established in Shanghai. Two branches were opened in Shenzhen, China and Silicon Valley, United States.
