Conclusion: Pimax built with the 8kx a Super VR glasses. If you are ready to find the perfect settings that will not find any comparable FOV on the Consumer Market. I'm looking forward to seeing the Pimax 12k to see how well the out of the box experience in this glasses will be. I can recommend enthusiasts the glasses and beginners I recommend to inform themselves at the Pimax community or directly at Pimax. The Pimax Support is very exemplary and helpful.

So here was my experience with this headset. It does have a few quirks. Overall it is an amazing headset. The resolution and FOV are amazing. You will get one of the best pictures and best FOV with this beast if you have the video card to achieve it. I had to return mine due to back problems I have and the fact this headset is noticeably heavier than the valve index or htc vive pro 2. I can play on the valve for a few hours before I start to notice it having an issue on my back. With the Pimax 8k x I could start to feel the problems within about 15 min. So this headset just did not work with my back so keep that in mind if you have back problems. (and yes I did have it on correct. the strap was not high on my head but lower towards my neck) The return process was smooth and they were very helpful in assisting me.

Light leakage at the sides of the mask. (For some face shapes that might not be an issue. It can easily be fixed with a little DYI adding of some material at the edges.)
It did wobble just a little bit.
You will have to have a RTX 3080 or 3090 to get what you are paying for in this.
It is not very plug and play and plan on tweaking each piece of software to get things to look good. (there was a lot of info already out there on setting for various games.
Took alot to get setup and get working.
Mic was not that great but usable.

So overall if you are looking for plug and play and dont want to mess with a lot of settings....then this is not the headset for you.
If your good with playing with the settings on just about everything you run on it you will not be disappointed at the quality, the resolution, or the FOV of this headset.

I never owned a vr headset before all of my friends have a different brands and everyone was telling me that I don't need to spend that much money on pimax 8kx but after they try it they were blown away two of them already ordered 8kx and the others they gonna get the 12k in the future and I will get the 12k FOR SURE

The field of view It's very important to make it a VIRTUAL REALITY playing a games with different brands it's like you are looking through 5" hole and that will not make you feel you are in virtual reality

I got the Pimax 8KX on Amazon with the KDMAS just before Christmas. The delivery was prompt. Unfortunately, the DisplayPort cable was heavily bent from the factory. Thus, the sound was initially scratchy and the image often gone. One day later, the display port fiber cable arrived. I can recommend this to everyone. It is expensive, but it is lighter, more flexible and has a much better transmission. I must admit I am really spoiled after almost two years on my old Valve Index. At first I was hesitant to send the HMD back. 90Hz did not work, the sound of the KDMAS is dull and bassless compared to the Index. I didn't have lens inserts for my vision like on the Index and I had tracking problems. Also the micro was way too quiet. Also, you have to get used to the glasses first. If you feel the image distorts too much when turning your head try the thicker foam attachment. You lose some FOV, but the angle of the eyes to the lens is better. After contacting support I was helped quickly though. I got a new dev firmware. 90Hz now worked natively. Using a 3D printer, I printed a lens adapter and mounts for my glasses (from VROptican) and the VR Ears (with speakers like in the Index) from Rebuff Reality. After Valve also patched Steam VR, my tracking problems have virtually disappeared. I fixed the audio problems with the tool Equalizer APO 1.2.1. Now I can finally enjoy my racing simulator in 4K. After I understood what the functions in the pi tool all mean and especially when you have to activate the Parallel Projection Compatibility and when not. I have also brought the performance of my games to an acceptable level. On my system with AMD 5900x, 32GB Ram and RTX 3090 I can finally play Automobilista 2 in 90fps with normal FOV. (Also thanks to OpenVR FSR Mod). Half Life Alyx runs in large FOV even at 100% scaling with maximum details. As I said at first I thought about sending it back. Today I can no longer imagine using another headset. I'm also eagerly awaiting the RTX 4000 and the Pimax 12K with OLED. I had the index on again the other day and felt like I had blinders on. With the Pimax, however, you can see all three mirrors in the car without having to turn your head. Please Pimax license the Index speakers, everything else is a waste of resources. I got the glasses because of the wide FOV and the high resolution. Both of which Pimax delivered. The sweet spot is also nice. The rest can be easily fixed as a resourceful hobbyist and Pimax is also designed for hobbyists. As I said, I come from the Index - here everything is plug & play. For my exciting VR evenings in high res, I thank Pimax and therefore also award 5 stars. Anything else would not do justice to the displays.

I’ve owned the 5k, the 5K+ the 8K and finally 8Kx.
If you are tech savvy and willing to invest some time in getting all the setting right, there is NOTHING on the market as crystal clear as this HMD.
I primarily use it for iRacing, where I have a guide for the 8Kx pinned in the official forums. This headset is UNREAL for iRacing and Sims.
Again, if you take the time to get the settings right for each game the wow factor is through the roof. If you have no clue what you’re doing, and dont bother adjusting settings, I’d question why you were shopping for high end VR.
Lastly despite what the salty individual said above, I’ve dealt with very few companies as a professional in the industry that have the customer service Pimax does. The bend over backwards to help and will continually follow up proactively for open support tickets. Truly top notch people, and amazing engineering team.
If you want high end VR, especially for sims, and will configure it properly per game, there is simply no other choice that can compete on its level. This is the current benchmark in VR. Period.
