Brian Hennings wins VRX Pimax GT3 Series

With a 16-lap title decider at Watkins Glen, a win by Brian Hennings secured him the championship victory of the VRX Pimax GT3 Series. The series kicked off on December 21st 2022 at Spa and visited four other tracks before the season finale. Brian Hennings wins a Pimax 5K headset:  “I didn’t do a super good qualifying, I went off-track and lost the lap. So I had to start in the back. But there was a pile-up in the first corner, then it was just me and Justin up there. It’s pretty awesome to win a Pimax 5K, I can’t wait to try it out. I have an HP Reverb 2 now, so I can’t wait to see if it’s better, I assume it will be. It’s pretty awesome! The VRX Pimax World Cup is starting soon, I’m definitely joining that too. Normally we do ovals, so really looking forward to that.” Mark Math, runner-up wins a Thrustmaster gated shifter: “After the season it’s disappointing to end like this, but it is what it is. I made some mistakes, and other people made mistakes, but it is what it is. At the start, I thought my getaway was pretty good. But I got turned around in the first corner, and after that, I tried to go as fast as I could. Then now I had to pass a lot of people from the back. Me and Brian had some pretty good races this season. I wish this last race went down to me and him battling it out, and maybe Nick. And having a really good battle. Watkins Glen really suits these cars. It was going to be fun. The World Cup, I’m joining as well. My forte is ovals. So looking forward to the ovals.  Maybe not the superspeedways, everyone has a chance and I’m not so lucky on those. But also looking forward to meeting new people.” Third place Justin Ritchie wins a Thrustmaster Digital RPM GT style LCD: “I didn’t come into the series with high hopes, then had a rough start with the first two races. Also not super familiar with the tracks. But it was fun racing, shout-out to everyone participating. I crashed out in Spa and finished last or second to last. Then spun in the second race and finished fourth. Then just consistently scoring points. I got lucky in round 5 when the big dogs got trouble. After that, it’s how it ended up. Also looking forward to the World Cup. I signed up for it. I don’t know how good I am to all these guys. Super speedways, well it’s the luck of the draw whether you get caught up in a wreck. But those intermediate and short tracks that are on the calendar are definitely a challenge, and I have to put in some practice time. We’ll see how it goes but I’m excited for it.” Fourth place, Cierra Klampert, the lone BMW racer, winning $30: “What’sup! I took the BMW because I had never driven any sort of GT3 car, I just thought the BMW would be the better choice. Then when I realized I was the only one who choose the BMW, I just stuck to this choice. I had a battle with Jason Lyon, it was a lot of fun. There were multiple times I thought not overly crazy, he was letting me race. Usually, when I’m in that circumstance they wreck me. We didn’t. So that was fun. I do love road racing, especially in Mazda’s. That’s where the love comes for road racing. But now that I’ve done GT3 racing, I actually really like this car. So I’m looking forward to do some more road races. I won $30,- so I did it for fun and I feel I improved my racing. I actually just went in here, thinking all the time “Don’t go off the track!”, so I had a lot of fun. I’m good with that!”
