Pimax Play 1.31 is out soon (including integrated OpenXR runtime)

Pimax Play 1.31 will bring several improvements, including Upscaling Mode that will be out of beta. Upscaling greatly improves performance in terms of FPS (see here benchmarks from VR Flight Sim Guy, and here Laubox.

With Upscaling out of beta, a new beta feature takes its place, namely OpenXR runtime — which will be integrated into Pimax Play. More about that here:
Announcement: Pimax Play to get integrated OpenXR and Quadviews

1.31 will also introduce a reworked local dimming feature, where it will now allow users to configure via slider instead of selecting the four preset options. This will make it easier for users to get exactly the value they would like, rather than having to tweak .json files.

Since our last progress update, with 1.29 and 1.30, we've already made the following improvements:

  • Optimized the SLAM algorithm for the Crystal Light
  • Fixed the issue of occasional stuttering when moving the headset
  • Fixed the issue of abnormal positioning of in some situations
  • We've added support for the Crystal Light's non-local dimming version

As well as several improvements and bug fixes:

  • For users using SteamVR beta version with base-station tracked controllers, we fixed the controller skeleton issue
  • We fixed the issue that some users had, where base-station tracked controllers would close automatically
  • Improved the Japanese translation of Pimax Play
  • Fixed several UI issues inside Pimax Play

Fixed a bug where Steam games would not display upon the first installation of Pimax Play
