1. Device

  • Room Lighting Frequency: Adjusting the Room Lighting Frequency to synchronize with the headset's refresh rate can reduce or eliminate flickering caused by mismatched refresh rates, thereby reducing visual fatigue and discomfort. Set the room lighting to 50 or 60 Hz, depending which option gives you the best inside-out tracking performance.

  • Recline Mode: While lying in bed, enable Recline Mode can automatically adjust the VR display content to adapt it to your perspective and posture, optimising the tracking for this use case.

  • Refresh Rate: Set the refresh rate according to your hardware performance and gaming needs to achieve the best visual effects. Also, through Upscale Mode, lower-resolution images can be "upgraded" to an effect close to higher resolution, thereby presenting higher-definition images in VR devices and reducing image blur and jagged edges caused by performance limitations.

  • Brightness: Adjust the brightness according to the actual ambient light to ensure clear visual effects.

  • Handle Vibration Adjust: Adjust controller Vibration to personalize the tactile experience and enhance immersion.

  • Horizontal Calibration: Simply recalibrate the horizontal orientation of the Crystal or Crystal Light with a click on this button in Pimax Play! This'll ensure a more comfortable and accurate visual experience.

  • Simulate as Valve Index Controllers: Enable it to play games that require Index controller parameters. It will replace Pimax controller parameter with Index controller parameter.

2. Games

  • Render Quality: Adjust the Render Quality to balance PC performance and visual effects. Pimax Play also supports custom settings.

  • Fixed Foveated Rendering: Enable Fixed Foveated Rendering to sharpen the central area of your view while blurring the edges. Reduces GPU load and enhances visual smoothness.

*When you Set Pimax OpenXR as OpenXR Runtime(in General setting), you can select Pimax OpenXR Quadviews. Otherwise select the Pimax Central Priority Rendering.

  • Preference: After you enable the Fixed Foveated Rendering, you can change the range of the Fixed Foveated Rendering.
    • The Foveated Rendering range of 'performance' is the smallest and the edge blur range is the largest, which can minimize the GPU load.
    • The 'balanced' has a larger Foveated Rendering range than 'performance'.
    • The 'Quality' has a larger Foveated Rendering range than 'balanced'.

*Choose the appropriate preference according to your needs.

  • Smart Smoothing & Lock to Half Framerat: Enable Smart Smoothing and Lock to Half Framerat can reduce GPU load while achieving the original frame rate effect.
    • Smart Smoothing: Generates additional intermediate frames through interpolation to smooth the transition of the picture, making the picture look smoother, but it will increase the system computing burden.
    • Lock to Half Framerate: Locks the frame rate to half of the target frame rate to ensure stable system operation and avoid frequent frame rate fluctuations. It is suitable for devices with weaker performance, but it may sacrifice some picture smoothness.

  • Hidden Area Mask: Enable the Hidden Area Mask can cover the parts beyond the visible range, avoiding wasting computing resources and improving performance.

  • Vive Compatibility: Compatible with Vive hardware.

  • Color Tweaking: Adjust the screen contrast and brightness according to your own needs and application scenarios to achieve the most satisfactory visual effect.

3. General

  • Headset as default audio output device: Set the headset as the default output device then you don't have to re-set it every time you use the headset.

  • Home Setting: Setting up the initial home.

4. Advanced

  • Horizontal IPD Offset: Customize your horizontal IPD offset to optimize visual alignment and image clarity.

  • Local Dimming: Local Dimming is a display technology that improves the contrast and black performance of the display by independently controlling the backlight brightness of different areas on the display. Adjust backlight, brightness and contrast for a better gaming experience!

  • Passthrough: Enable Passthrough and double-tap the side of the headset to switch between VR and the real world.

  • Activate Chaperone: Set whether to be notified when you leave the safety zone. When you leave the safety zone, it will change to passthrough mode and notify you.
  • Perspective Hotkey: Set passthrough shortcut key to switch between VR and the real world directly from the keyboard.

  • Motion Compensation: selecting Motion Compensation devices (such as controllers, trackers) and adjust their positions to synchronize vision and movement.

No complex software installation or setup is required—Pimax Play allows you to easily experience VR. By exploring its features and adjusting the settings according to your needs, you can achieve the best experience while using Pimax VR headsets.
